Birthday Parties

Stony Kill Foundation offers birthday parties for children ages 1 and up that focus on farm life and the outdoor education experience. Birthday parties are held Monday through Sunday, 10 am to 3 pm with parties running two-hours in duration. Parties include: a 45 min to 1 hour education program by a naturalist educator followed by a craft or activity and a small party favor. The other hour is reserved for food/cake, etc. Additional time can be added to your party for an extra fee per hour. Parents must supply paper goods, food, cake, and decorations. Table cloths are required. Our educator will assist with set up and clean up.

Farm Barnyard

Explore the barnyard and meet the Stony Kill Farm animals in our 17th century barn. Learn about the important roles of animals on the farm and enjoy a hands-on experience with our gentle sheep.

Choose one activity:

  • Wool washing and color your own sheep
  • Color and construct a paper barn

Wiggly Worms

Let’s get dirty and dig for worms! We’ll introduce you to our decomposing friends and the important work they do for our gardens.

Choose one activity:

  • Make dessert dirt cups
  • Make a dirt & worm painting

 

Pond Exploration (available April – November)

Who’s living in the farm pond? Grab your net and start scooping, we’ll be examining our specimens and identifying creatures in and around the pond.

Choose one activity:

  • Make a dragonfly
  • Frog Life cycle egg carton craft

 

 

Honey Bees & Pollinators

Can you tell the difference between honey and Maple syrup? Learn about our important friends the honeybees and their pollinating friends while we explore the classroom observation hive and taste test some Stony Kill honey.

 Choose one activity:

  • Make a mason bee house
  • Make a clothespin butterfly or bee

Animal Tracking

Take a walk around the farm and discover the wildlife that call Stony Kill Farm home. Learn who is predator and prey and how they survive in the Hudson Valley.

Choose one activity:

  • Make an animal track fossil
  • Sponge painting animal tracks

Cost:
$200 for the birthday child plus 12 children, each additional child is $10.  There is no charge for adults. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is due two weeks before the party date. Please call the farm in advance to reserve the date for your party: 845-831-3800  or email us.
